SPAGGIA DELLE VACCHE

Like everbody's saying here, The path going to the beach is tricky and i would like to thank fellow travelers here who put a very precised direction and we found the place right away the very first try!!

First of all come EARLY as the place is small and could get easily be crowded.

Down below is the direction on how to get there...

*To the paid public parking lot ...

Google maps "PARK LA TARTARUGA"
Park here to avoid parking penalty fees in the area. Parking fee is 12€/day or 1.50€/hour and you'll pay to the parking lot attendant when you leave, so it doesn't matter how early you come, they will open at 8am and they will start your parking time as soon as they see your car parked there.

*To Spiaggia delle Vache...

-Put in google maps 'Sassi Piatti Villas'
Just walk through the road 'VIA CALA GIRGULO'  once you've reached that villa you'll see  a stone stairs going down to the beach with a yellow sign "Spaggia della vache"

-Once you reach the beach, go right and you'll see a white sign " SENTIERO SPAGGIA TARTARUGA" ...

-Just follow the paths along the coast!

It's a combination of climbing low boulder stones, small sandy coves and narrow bush paths. You'll know that you're on the right direction when you see black dirt walking marks on the path ways.

Just keep in mind to only follow paths along the COAST LINE. 

On the way you'll stumble upon three small beautiful coves until you reach Spiagga delle vacche.

As far as i remember, we saw 2 paths either going along the coast (left) or to the bush forest (right) and you'll get confused where to go. Once again, always follow the coast and not the way going out up to the forest.
So many times we felt like "are we on the right path??" We simply  followed our guts and didn't think twice and  suprisingly, we've already reached our destination.




Hiking tips:

- Wear closed shoes. I had a 'Five finger' shoes that i can use for hiking and swimming and i had a perfect grip between climbing stones.

I've seen some with flip flops which is ok too but it can easily get stuck on the sand along the way and sometimes the stones could be wet and slippery. All up to you!

-Pack light! We were a family of 4 and we went only with one backpack and it is enough!

It is kind of hard to get there when you think of it but  it is manageable! We even went there with our kids and i saw couples with baby carriers and they also made it.

Another important tip is, go there EARLY in the morning to avoid the crowd during high season and you'll appreciate the beauty of the place much better. We went there at 7am, we thought we were the first ones but a couple was there already. At 9am people are slowly coming in and it's started to get crowded, at 11am we left. 2-3 hrs spent there was enough for us. There are a lot more nicer and bigger beaches in sardinia if you prefer to stay the whole afternoon. And to set your expectations, the place is nice but a lot of rubbish like tissue paper, bottles and plastic along the hiking path , which is sad and some area stank of urine or human manure. Poeple need to be more disciplined to preserve the beauty of this place.
We came here out of curiosity and for experience but this is not the place to go to for relaxation. It has no shade and cramped beach.

Laupen, Switzerland

Laupen in Bern Switzerland 

The quaint little town of Laupen 🇨🇭

Located between the city of Bern and Murten 🏰 

I frequently travel to Bern and Murten but i never been to thi place before nor heard of Laupen.

The castle and the museum are open only on the first and third Sunday of each month from May to October 2021. But you can also roam around the castle all year round.

                     I went with the car which is almost a 2-hr drive

from Zurich.

   Parked at the Laupen train station, just across the street from the castle.

An afternoon walk around  Laupen old town up to the castle and ended our day with a refreshing dip in the Saane/Sarine river ❤

There are several shops to check out and restaurants in the area for a quick drinks or for a delicious meal.

The river has a very sttong current but shallow.

Very refreshing after a long walk but be careful as it is veru stoney and slipper.

Better bring your water shoes or flipflops.

-By Train approx. 35mins from Bern or Fribourg Bahnhof 🚉.

It's not even a long walk. So it is pretty accesible for train commuters.

Laupen is a nice for a one-day trip or a relaxing stop-over on the way to Bern or Fribourg.

Easter is like our first Christmas of the year.

-Family brunch

-Opening easter goodies/gifts for the kids

-Afternoon walk

of course, our home-made easter cake for dessert (matilda style chocolate cake) 😋

Kids got so much easter goodies and easter chocolates that's why for them 

easter is the first Christmas of the year.

And beautiful warm sunny weather after the long winter this season 💮

   

Swiss Autumn 🍁

Swiss Autumn

It's that time of year again!

Time change and colors switch.

From summer to winter time, from green color to yellow-ish, red-ish and orange-ish colors of nature.

 In short, Autumn color.

Swiss autumn is very alive and colorful.

Uetliberg trail is our favorite place for an afternoon walk in late september and mid october. 

The weather is mostly sunny and the temperature is mild that makes the surroundings more colorful and enjoyable.

In the height of pandemic we all just want to have a peaceful, safe and clean environment. Material things didn't even count. Health is the most important thing.

We are lucky that switzerland has a lot of beautiful places to go to away from the crowd.

This beautiful tree that we saw on the way is full of life.

Simple tree that gives us a positive energy that life might be challenging but there's always a way to be happy. 

 This view gives us a very peaceful vibe.

Makes me appreciate simple things in life more in times like these.

Simple happiness that has a big impact. As they say...

"Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower"

And, this is my favorite part, food! 

Every autumn as we all know is the 'Wildsaison' (wild season).

Wild specialty is offered in every swiss restaurant. "Wildspezialität" is advertised in every restaurant entrance that means wild specialty. 

I was not a big fan of deer meat because of that strong after-taste but if you'll find a decent traditional swiss restaurant you better give it a try because they know what they do and they know how to cook it the proper way.

We discovered this Linde restaurant in Weiningen and they are simply exceptional.

Their venison steak is the best that i had since i moved here.

Very juicy and tasty with delicous side dishes like spätzle, baked pear, stir fried grapes, peach, red cabbage and banana croquette.

I never had baked pear and stir fried grapes-peach before and they taste amazingly good.

I even tried to make my own venison meat at home. Not that good yet but will practice more.

Gold Panning in Switzerland

 Our fun gold panning experience

The unesco Biosphere Entlebuch offers a lot of adventures for young and old.

Hiking, gold panning, biking and a lot more.

Due to covid we decided to spend our summer holiday in Switzerland. We discovered new beautiful places and learned new stuff. 

We didn't know gold panning is such a fun activity for the whole family. With hardwork and patience you will find gold flakes while enjoying the beautiful Napf surroundings. 

We booked online, in Napfgold-erlebnis. 

(Found them thru google)

They are very helpful and informative, direct to the point. Some company gives too much information but with Napf they will give you just the necessry infos that you need to know. 

The kids get to dig on their own and do the 'washing' with all the tools provided. 

You could book a day, half day or a 4-hr  gold panning experience. Since it is our first real river gold panning (my kids did the "gold panning" on a box of sand before, offered by their sports club somewhere in switzerland as part of their group excursion not the real one though but just to have a nice experience how it goes). 

We booked the 4-hr tour/experience considering we have three kids and we don't know yet at that time if they will enjoy the whole thing from walking to digging and it turns out they liked it so much that they want to do it every summer

Romoos, Entlebuch is 1hr by car from zurich.

And, 2hrs by train from Zurich main station.

Luzern is the nearest city in Entlebuch.

It is also a good idea to do some Luzern or Entlebuch sight-seeing afterwards.

This was our 4-hr gold panning experience (9am- 1pm)

- Collecting all the equipment. Rubber boots, shovel, pan, small bottle container and sluice box.

-small introduction and briefing about the area and gold panning history

-30-minute hike down the river

-Gold panning instructions

-gold panning on your own

-gather all the tools and hike up to the nearest bus station.

-took the bus back to Napfgold-Erlebnis place

-cleaned all the tools and...  finished!

You will be on your own afterwards but the Napfgold-erlebnis guides will be there all the time to give some tips and advice.

Time is so fast and patience is really a virtue. You will find gold just be patient.

We thought it was too short so i would recommend a half-day package for beginners, you have an option to book your lunch with them as well.

We were in a group but i think you can also have a private guide.
