Laupen, Switzerland

Laupen in Bern Switzerland

The quaint little town of Laupen 🇨🇭
Located between the city of Bern and Murten 🏰

I frequently travel to Bern and Murten but i never been to thi place before nor heard of Laupen.

The castle and the museum are open only on the first and third Sunday of each month from May to October 2021. But you can also roam around the castle all year round.

I went with the car which is almost a 2-hr drive
from Zurich.
Parked at the Laupen train station, just across the street from the castle.

An afternoon walk around  Laupen old town up to the castle and ended our day with a refreshing dip in the Saane/Sarine river ❤

There are several shops to check out and restaurants in the area for a quick drinks or for a delicious meal.

The river has a very sttong current but shallow.
Very refreshing after a long walk but be careful as it is veru stoney and slipper.
Better bring your water shoes or flipflops.

This is at the back of the castle where you can see some wood works
very interesting for the little ones.

The stone entrance going to the castle.

-By Train approx. 35mins from Bern or Fribourg Bahnhof 🚉.

The stone path and stairs going up the hill where the castle is located is simply
Beautiful ❤

The view across the street where Laupen train station is located.
It's not even a long walk. So it is pretty accesible for train commuters.

Laupen is a nice for a one-day trip or a relaxing stop-over on the way to Bern or Fribourg.

Heidegg Castle

Schloss Heidegg

Gelfingen

During the lockdown due to the pandemic we discovered a lot of places that we haven't seen before. We visisted a lot of castles nearby and it became our our favorite afternoon walks away from the crowd.

We are lucky to be surrounded by different castles in switzerland that turned into an amazing museum.

The castle's beautiful rose garden.

The inside of the castle. Showing the old furnitures, clothes, and of course my favorite the "Kachelofen".
(Tiled stove)

Pictures in the castle through the years.

This bed is like in a fairytale movie.

Not a fox but a "siebenschläfer"
(Doemouse)

They have their own chapel that is located just right outside the castle and nowadays it can be rented for wedding ceremonies.

The beautiful view over-looking Baldeg lake (Baldegersee).
They also have a public bath open every summer the lake is also good for stand-up paddles but with it's own restrictions as the lake is well protected (no boats allowed) that nakes the area very peaceful.

The castle visit was very relaxing you can just sit in the rose garden and enjoy the view for hours.
They have a small cafe where you can enjoy a coffee or a small dessert.
Plus they have a nice playground for the little ones.

Wow Museum

Wow Museum, Zurich

An interesting illusion museum for big and small.

They have different rooms for you to have fun and take some cool insta-worthy pictures.

Using their wow guide, you can take pictures and download it directly in your smartphone.

It is small but if you like illusion and visual art you will enjoy this place.

Their wow guide will explain everything you need to know.

At the entrance, you will be asked to scan a qr code (for the 'wow' guide) and that's it! You're ready to explore the whole museum.

If you are a blogger or simply love taking selfies,
This is the best place to take tons of pix for your social media accounts.

Again, it's not just for kids. But also for the big ones.

Sign-up to their newsletter to get a discount code for the entrance fee.

Infinity room is def.  my favorite.
